Our goal is to get the patient to start thinking about what they are eating. The symptoms of food intolerance are many. Following are some of the more common symptoms:
1. GERDS (acid reflux,
heartburn, post nasal drainage, or acid indigestion)
2. Irritable bowel syndrome (cramps, gas, diarrhea alternating with
constipation)
3. Headaches (migraine, tension headaches, irritability or mood change
after eating)
4. Rectal itching (and vaginal itching in females)
5. Atopic eczema (an itchy rash on the face, insides of the elbows,
and behind the knees.)
Newborn Infants
1. Colic
2. Atopic eczema
3. Projectile vomiting
Young Children
1. Ear infections (fluid that
wont go away and needs tubes)
2. Wheezing
3. Diarrhea
As you may surmise, food intolerance can affect almost any organ system. We recommend that anyone having bowel problems be worked up by a physician who can eliminate the possibility of a bowel cancer. Anyone with migraines should be evaluated by a neurologist. However, after all the bad possibilities have been eliminated, think about the possibility that food intolerance could be causing the symptoms.
